Again, larger doesn't always mean better (nothing better than the original, and "original" I mean before saved not the original before modification), but the program inclues ALL information the program has, which may end up larger than the original. So, try again and choose "12" this time (or highest or "the best quality") and you may end up with larger size. I am very sure that when you SAVED you chose lower compression LEVEL (not compression rate but level). If you find the size shrinks to about 1/2 of its original size, then it's a big chance that it's the OPERATOR who causes it to shrink. And it has nothing to do with making the file smaller, or it isn't its job. To work on the hi-rez image will yield a much better result. It would make more sense if the NI means. I don't use NI, but it just don't make sense so I am making a wild guess that you may read it wrong, and made some error on the saving.
